INPRISE/BORLAND INTRODUCES BORLAND® CLX™: NEXT-GENERATION CROSS-PLATFORM LIBRARY AND COMPONENT FRAMEWORK
Borland® CLX™ to Radically Simplify Windows®/Linux® Native Cross-Platform Application Development
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- June 27, 2000-- Today at PCExpo, Inprise/Borland (Nasdaq:INPR) announced Borland® CLX™ (component library for cross-platform), the next-generation component library and framework for easily and rapidly developing native Linux® and Windows® applications and reusable components. CLX simplifies graphical user interface (GUI), database, and Web application development with a cross-platform component framework design based on the award winning Delphi™ and C++Builder™ visual component library (VCL).
CLX will be available in the forthcoming Linux version of the Borland Delphi and C++Builder tools, code-named "Kylix". The Kylix™ Project is a native rapid application development (RAD) environment for the Linux operating system, and will also be incorporated into the next Windows versions of Delphi and C++Builder.
"CLX is an exciting next step for mainstream software application development," said Michael Swindell, director of product management for Inprise/Borland. "CLX and the Kylix Project incorporate object oriented programming, rapid visual development, cross-platform and fully native code, with speed and reliability."
