AidAim Software announces EasyTable v.2.10 Beta release

9/4/2001 - AidAim Software announces availability of EasyTable v.2.10 Beta release. The new version of EasyTable Free, v.2.10 Beta, is now available for everyone. Com and Pro versions will be available for purchase after the release of EasyTable v.2.10. Starting from this version, EasyTable is available for Delphi 4 and C++ Builder 4 as well as for Delphi 5, Delphi 6 and C++ Builder 5.

Now EasyTable supports such TTable's features as Key and Range methods. EasyTable supports all the basic TTable capabilities, providing some special ones along which makes it quite a handy developing tool. Besides, EasyTable had been essentially changed in order to support Shareable In Memory capabilities. Software developers will now be able to work with the same table using several TEasyTable components at a time.

Another important new feature is the in-memory mode for operating upon small sized databases in memory. In this mode, recording to disc is executed when necessary by means of calling the SaveTable method, which may give a certain advantage in speed when working with databases which may be read to operating storage as a whole, due to their size. However, EasyTable has its own cache for working with disc, so you should try and determine, whether the in-memory mode will bring you any advantage in speed in your case.

Also the support of large-size tables has improved. Now working with great number of records will speed up essentially. Moreover, now EasyTable consists of two components. TEasyDatabase component which is TDatabase replacement has been added for more convenience in keeping several tables in a single directory, as an interim increment to creation of flat-format (all the database tables in a single file). This feature will also appear soon in one of the closest releases. Now if you want to specify the directory for an EasyTable component you may set it manually in the DatabaseName property of EasyTable, but it would be better to set Directory and DatabaseName properties of EasyDatabase component and then set DatabaseName property of EasyTable component to the DatabaseName of desired database component (available names will be shown in a drop-down list).
