Description:

With the Direct Oracle Access component set for Delphi or C++Builder you can access any Oracle database directly, skipping the BDE. These easy to use components give you the highest possible performance and allow you to use all Oracle specific features, eliminating the distribution and configuration problems of the BDE.

When you use Delphi or C++Builder to access an Oracle database, this component set can make your life a lot easier. With these seven components (TOracleSession, TOracleLogon, TOracleQuery, TOraclePackage, TOracleDataSet, TOracleEvent and TOracleProvider) you access an Oracle database directly, skipping the Borland Database Engine, only using (32 bits) SQL*Net. This gives you the following advantages:
  • No distributing, installing and configuring of the BDE
  • You can use any 32 bits Delphi/C++Builder version to develop Client/Server applications
  • No BDE overhead or tradeoffs: your queries will run up to five times faster
  • Automatic Master/Detail configuration using TOracleDataSet
  • Automatically enforce server-constraints on the client using TOracleDataSet
  • Make use of server generated values (defaults, trigger modified columns) in a TOracleDataSet
  • Query By Example mode for high performance queryable forms without any programming
  • Use PL/SQL blocks for server logic in your application
  • Increase batch performance with array DML and PL/SQL Tables
  • Easy access to stored packages through the TOraclePackage component
  • Encapsulation of standard Oracle packages (dbms_alert, dbms_pipe, dbms_job, utl_file, ...)
  • Oracle Monitor to find performance bottlenecks
  • Handle dbms_alert signals and dbms_pipe messages in the background of your application
  • Many Oracle specific features supported (Savepoints, SQLTrace, SetTransaction, ...)
  • Compatible with SQL*Net 1 to Net8 and with Personal Oracle Lite to Oracle8
System Requirements

Direct Oracle Access requires a Windows 9x, Windows NT or Windows 2000 client, with SQL*Net or Net8 installed. The supported Oracle Server versions are 7.x, 8.x and 8i on any platform. Direct Oracle Access versions for Delphi and C++Builder 3, 4 and 5 are available.

Direct Oracle Access has native support for Oracle8. This allows you to use all new Oracle8 features like the new LOB data types and Oracle8's Object extension. The components are available in two versions, the Standard version and the Object version. The Object version allows you to use Oracle8's Object extension through the TOracleObject and TOracleReference objects. Both versions are sold separately, the Object version costs an additional $50 (also available as upgrade).
