Description:
Traditionally 3D visualisation has been the realm of high end work-stations and specialist hardware or even super computers. However, with the advent of high performance CPUs, graphics hardware acceleration and a 32bit OS a lot of this work can now be done on PCs.
This toolkit encapsulates the "industry standard" approaches taken by the scientific and industrial community as well as those taken by the entertainment/graphics community (they are not always the same) to provide the DELPHI Application Developer with the means of delivering sophisticated 3D enabled solutions.
3DShapes links to the OpenGL Rendering Library using the Microsoft supplied implementation calls. (The SGI render can also be used.) The implementation will automatically detect and utilise any Hardware acceleration present of the running machine. This Toolkit does NOT use any OpenGL extensions other than those supplied for the Windows environment. The User is at liberty to make use of specialist extensions. The Toolkit and OpenGL library supports OpenGL version 1.2. However, at the time of writing the distributed Microsoft render version was 1.1. Microsoft have not indicated when they will provide a release of OpenGL 1.2.
