Description:
This Alpha Blend Routine allows one to create blends between a foreground and background bitmap of any shape, size and degree of transparency. Foreground, background, and alpha channel bitmaps can be Windows BMP or JPEG format in 8, 16, 24 or 32 bits per pixel. THIS IS A FAST BLEND routine using optimized ScanLine[] pixel access. FULL SOURCE CODE and DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM is INCLUDED. IT IS PUBLIC DOMAIN and FREE for use however you would like. The amount of blend for each single pixel is determined by the colour values denoted within an Alpha Channel Bitmap. The closer to full white the pixels are in the alpha channel bitmap then the more the foreground shows through, while the closer to dark Black the alpha channel pixels are, then the more the background shows through. The alpha channel bitmap can contains organic shapes, different colours and different levels of grey to signify various levels of transparency. Open the "Alpha_Blend_Project.dpr" project file within Delphi and read the code in the Unit file "Alpha_Blend_Unit.pas" to get a detailed explanation of how the alpha blend routine works.
